Robinhood to offer crypto perpetual futures in the U.S. with up to 10x leverage on BTC and ETH

Robinhood will offer perpetual futures on eight coins to U.S. customers in the coming months.

Leverage is capped at 10x for BTC and ETH and 3x for the other six, with a 0.01% fee through year-end.

Bitstamp launched perpetual futures in Europe in April, and Robinhood also plans weekend stock trading.

Robinhood said it will offer crypto perpetual futures to U.S. customers, covering bitcoin and seven other tokens with up to 10x leverage. At its annual HOOD Summit 2026 in Houston on Sept. 29 (local time), the U.S. online brokerage said eligible U.S. customers will be able to trade perpetual futures on eight coins inside the Robinhood app in the coming months. At the same event it also laid out plans for weekend stock trading and AI trading agents.

10x on bitcoin and ether, 3x on the rest

Perpetual futures are futures contracts with no expiration date. They let traders bet on prices rising (long) or falling (short) without owning the coin, and use leverage to control positions larger than their margin. Robinhood said the contracts will cover bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), Chainlink (LINK) and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Leverage will be capped at 10x for bitcoin and ether and at 3x for the other six.

The product will be offered by Robinhood Derivatives through Bitstamp, the crypto exchange owned by Robinhood. Through the end of the year, Robinhood will charge one basis point (0.01%) per trade, which it called some of the lowest fees in the industry. Customers will be able to set stop-loss and take-profit orders, track their liquidation price in real time and get alerts if a position is at risk. The company did not give a launch date.

Tested first in Europe

Robinhood's perpetual futures started in Europe. On June 30, 2025, the company announced perpetual futures with up to 3x leverage for customers in the European Union, with orders routed to Bitstamp's perpetual futures exchange. On April 9 this year, Bitstamp launched perpetual futures on its web platform for both institutional and retail investors. The offering operates under the EU's MiFID II framework, with leverage capped at 10x. It covered 10 coins at the time: bitcoin, ether, Solana, Dogecoin, XRP, Sui, Cardano, Avalanche, Chainlink and Hyperliquid. The U.S. product starts with eight of them, leaving out Sui and Avalanche.

Weekend stock trading and AI agents also on the list

Robinhood said that, pending regulatory review, it will let customers trade a selection of U.S. stocks 24/7, including weekends. Its existing 24 Hour Market lets customers trade hundreds of stocks and ETFs from Sunday at 8 p.m. ET through Friday at 8 p.m. ET, and the new service extends that into the weekend. Weekend trading will be powered by Bruce ATS, an alternative trading system, and will start with a curated list of stocks and ETFs.

The company also unveiled Robinhood Agents, an AI trading assistant built into the app. It analyzes the market and trades on the customer's behalf within the strategy and limits the customer sets. Robinhood said more than 150,000 customers have opened agentic trading accounts since it launched agentic trading, which connects outside AI agents, in May. It also said it will roll out earnings contracts, which let customers trade on whether companies hit financial targets, through Cboe in the coming weeks.

Seven of the eight trade on Upbit's won market

The new product will be available only to U.S. customers. Of the eight coins, all but Hyperliquid are listed on Upbit's Korean won market. As of 3:30 p.m. KST on Sept. 30, bitcoin traded at 112,879,000 won, XRP at 2,034 won and Solana at 160,900 won on Upbit. Hyperliquid is not listed on the won markets of Upbit or Bithumb, and traded at 116,100 won on Coinone.

Perpetual futures exchanges have longs and shorts exchange periodic "funding" payments so that futures prices do not drift too far from spot prices. On Binance's perpetual futures market, the most recent funding rates settled on Sept. 30 were 0.0077% for bitcoin (9 a.m. KST) and -0.0038% for Hyperliquid (1 p.m. KST). A negative funding rate means shorts pay longs.
